Professor Emma Vardy is a Consultant Geriatrician and Clinical frailty lead at the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation trust. She holds an honorary clinical chair with the Manchester Academic health sciences centre at the University of Manchester. Professor Vardy is the NIHR Greater Manchester Applied Research Collaboration deputy lead for the health ageing theme. She is senior editor for the journal Age and Ageing, a board member of the European Delirium Association and co-chair of the Northwest British Geriatrics Society committee, and a committee member for the EDI and Academic and Research Committee for the British Geriatrics Society. She has published widely on topics which include delirium, acute illness in the older person, frailty, dementia, virtual wards, quality improvement and digital. Professor Vardy was instrumental in establishing virtual wards across the Northern Care Alliance and is ongoing lead for the frailty Hospital at Home service in Oldham.
