Claire Wade
Evelina London Children's Community Nursing Matron
Evelina London Children's Hospital (GSTT), London
Claire is Matron for Evelina London Children’s Community Nursing Service covering London Boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark. The Integrated service consists of complex needs school nursing, CCNT, Children’s Continuing Care, PATCH (formerly CYHP) Continence and Children’s Hospital@home team.
Claire joined the well-established Evelina Children’s Community Service almost 2 years ago, before which she was Matron for the Children’s Community Nursing Team in Lewisham. It was here in 2016 that Claire helped set-up and lead the new Lewisham H@H team as part of the 3 Borough pilot in South East London, collaborating closely with Kings College Hospital and Evelina Hospital. Having worked in district general paediatric settings previously, Claire is passionate about ambulatory/H@H care having experienced the large volume of children who were either returning to the ward and ED department for continuation of treatment, or being admitted to hospital for treatment that could be safely delivered at home. Claire is currently part of a working group in South East London (SEL) collaborating with teams within the SEL ICB working on a ‘core offer’ to ensure access to community health services remains consistent across neighbouring boroughs to reduce health inequalities across the patch.
